Jay Gates has over 20 years of middle market private equity and corporate finance experience across multiple industry sectors. He is currently Managing Partner of Townhill Capital Partners LLC, an independent private equity sponsor focused on acquiring business services and healthcare services platform companies that generate between $1 million and $10 million of EBITDA. He was previously a Partner at Charterhouse Group Inc., a New York based middle market private equity firm, which he joined in 1994. He was a key member of the firm’s investment team that successful invested CEP II, CEP III, and CEP IV and was a member of the firm’s investment and valuation committees. He has invested in a broad range of industries including waste services, facilities services, logistics, business process outsourcing, healthcare services, branded consumer products, cable TV, wireless towers, and specialty distribution. Investments have taken many forms including traditional buyouts, builds-ups and growth capital infusions. He served on numerous boards including of Oakleaf Waste Management, Inc., Logisticare Inc., MPTotalcare Inc., Harvard Custom Manufacturing LLC, Towne Air Cargo Inc., and Frontstreet Facilities Solutions, LLC.
He was previously a member of the Corporate Advisory Services Group at Arthur Andersen where he focused on restructuring and bankruptcy engagements for Fortune 1000 companies. He started his career at Bankers Trust Company where he was an Assistant Treasurer in the Government and Municipal Bond Services Group.
Mr. Gates received a B.A. in economics from Binghamton University and a M.B.A.in finance from the Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of Business at New York University.
